Client: Madison District Public Schools
Project Type: Website rebuild, CMS migration, accessibility remediation, digital marketing support
Overview
Madison District Public Schools brought me in to address an outdated, non-compliant website and strengthen their overall digital presence. The existing site had accessibility issues, unresolved OCR complaints, and limited usability on mobile devices. I began with a full assessment and developed a clear roadmap to stabilize, modernize, and optimize the district’s web presence.
What I Did
Led the transition to a new CMS to improve maintainability and long-term support.
Rebuilt and restructured the district website to improve usability, mobile access, and ADA and WCAG compliance.
Resolved all existing OCR complaints through targeted accessibility remediation and structural improvements.
Created internal documentation and trained district staff to maintain accessibility and content updates over time.
Supported broader digital marketing efforts tied to enrollment, including web content, email campaigns, newsletters, and coordination with physical marketing initiatives such as billboards.
Impact
Resolved all OCR complaints and brought the district website into ADA and WCAG compliance.
Modernized the district’s web presence with a more usable, mobile-friendly structure.
Directly supported a 25 percent increase in student enrollment in the first year following launch, with continued growth in subsequent years (3 percent in Year 2 and 7 percent in Year 3).
Established sustainable processes so staff could maintain progress beyond the initial rebuild.
Tools Used
Foxbright CMS, SharpSchool CMS, Google Forms, Adobe Suite, WAVE, screen reader testing
Bonus
Expanded the district’s digital strategy beyond the website by supporting coordinated messaging across web, email, newsletters, and physical media, while training internal teams to sustain the improvements.
