Project Type: Multi-site website management, CMS migration, accessibility remediation, analytics cleanup, conference platform build
Overview
AHIMA engaged me to manage and stabilize their full digital ecosystem, which ultimately included eight known websites and three additional properties uncovered during an initial audit. The environment was fragmented across platforms, inaccessible, mobile-unfriendly, and difficult to maintain. Analytics and tracking were unreliable due to duplicate Google Analytics properties, broken Google Tag Manager configurations, and inconsistent reporting.
My role focused on long-term website maintenance, accessibility compliance, platform consolidation, and restoring confidence in performance data across the organization.
What I Did
Audited all active AHIMA web properties to identify ownership, usability issues, accessibility gaps, and content performance.
Managed and maintained a multi-site ecosystem spanning Umbraco, WordPress, and Sitecore.
Migrated select sites into Umbraco to reduce platform sprawl and improve maintainability.
Implemented WCAG and ADA accessibility fixes across multiple domains.
Restructured navigation and content to improve usability and SEO.
Cleaned up and reconfigured Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to restore accurate tracking and reporting.
Built a custom conference website and event app for AHIMA’s annual conference in 2022 and 2023 using Cadmium, extending the platform beyond standard modules.
Trained marketing and operations teams on CMS usage, analytics, and ongoing maintenance.
Created detailed SOPs and documentation to ensure a smooth transition to the next website manager.
Redesign and Platform Work
While a full redesign of AHIMA.org was planned, internal delays pushed that effort beyond my tenure. During this time, I led redesigns and major improvements for several key properties, including bok.ahima.org, international.ahima.org, hipweek.ahima.org, and conference microsites, significantly improving accessibility, usability, and performance.
Results
Improved accessibility, usability, and SEO across AHIMA’s digital ecosystem.
Consolidated and stabilized a complex multi-site environment for easier long-term management.
Increased time on page by 51 percent across key properties.
Restored reliable analytics and reporting used in Google Analytics and HubSpot.
Tools Used
Umbraco, WordPress, Sitecore, Cadmium, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, HubSpot, WAVE, JAWS, Monday.com, Freshdesk, Adobe Acrobat, Canva
