The Challenge
Wyandotte Public Schools needed help refreshing their existing Finalsite website and building out new pages, but mid-engagement the superintendent departed and the project landscape shifted. The district had a new IT director who understood technology but had limited experience with website structure, information architecture, and how a school district site should be organized for its audiences.
What I Did
Began the engagement with a site refresh and new page builds within Finalsite. When the superintendent transition created a scope change, worked collaboratively with the district to rescope the project to match their new priorities and available resources. Shifted into a consulting role alongside the IT director, providing guidance on information architecture, site mapping, and how to structure the site effectively for parents, staff, and community members. Refreshed the site design to give the district a clean, functional web presence that would hold them over until their planned CMS migration approximately one year later.
The Outcome
The district received a refreshed, well-structured website and an IT director who was better equipped to manage and make decisions about their web presence going forward. The rescoped engagement ensured the district got maximum value from the project despite the leadership transition, and the design held up through their subsequent CMS migration.
